Energy calculator

Estimate your running cost.

Enter the wattage from the appliance label and the unit rate from your electricity bill. Results assume full rated power for the whole cook, so they are cautious estimates rather than meter readings.

Formula: watts / 1000 x hours x electricity price per kWh. Real appliances cycle their heating elements, and ovens may cook more food at once, so compare the same meal and portion size.

Use the wattage and tariff from your own appliance and bill

Running cost is an energy estimate, not a measured bill. Rated wattage multiplied by cooking time gives a cautious comparison, although thermostats may cycle the heating element. Enter the p/kWh unit rate from your electricity bill; do not include the daily standing charge in this field.

Check before using the result

  • Read rated watts from the appliance label or manual.
  • Use total powered cooking minutes, including preheat when relevant.
  • Change the editable tariff whenever your unit rate changes.

  • Use your model wattage for the best estimate.
  • Compare with oven cost for the same cook.

Plain safety rule

Treat every result as a starting point. Check early, leave space for airflow, and use a food thermometer for meat, fish and reheated food.

FAQ

Quick answers

Where do I find air fryer wattage?

Check the appliance rating label or manual and enter the rated wattage shown there.

Should I include the standing charge?

No. Enter only the electricity unit rate in pence per kWh; the daily standing charge exists whether or not this cook happens.

Is the estimate the exact metered cost?

No. It is a rated-power estimate because thermostats can cycle the heating element during cooking.
